Common Questions

Last updated: August 8, 2026 [r1.3]

Which statement formats and banks are supported?

PrivLedge imports PDF, CSV, and XLSX statements and auto-detects the format of statements from major Indian banks. Password-protected PDFs are supported via an inline unlock prompt.

How do I import a statement?

Tap Import, choose your PDF, CSV, or XLSX file, and PrivLedge parses the full transaction table automatically. Rows that overlap an earlier import of the same account are flagged in the import summary before you commit — they are kept on the statement, but excluded from your totals so nothing double-counts.

Can I try PrivLedge without my own statement?

Yes. On first launch, tap Import StatementOpen Sample_Statement.csv to walk through the import flow with a built-in sample statement from a fictitious bank — nothing real. The loaded sample is clearly banner-marked and removable in one tap.

How does auto-categorisation work?

PrivLedge maps each transaction to an Income Tax Department category and suggests categories using an on-device classifier that learns from your corrections. You can override any suggestion with a tap.

The running balance doesn't match my statement. What do I do?

Open the reconciliation workspace, where discontinuities in the running balance are highlighted. You can reorder same-date transactions, edit amounts, delete spurious rows, or snap the opening or closing balance to resolve gaps.

Is my financial data private?

Yes. All processing happens on your device, and we operate no server for this app — there is nowhere for your transaction data to be sent and nothing for us to receive. With PrivLedge Pro you can optionally sync to your own private iCloud account; that is between you and Apple. See our privacy policy for details.
