WhatsConvo is designed with your privacy as a core principle, not an afterthought.

What Data WhatsConvo Processes

WhatsConvo processes WhatsApp backup ZIP files that you explicitly import into the app. These backups may contain:

  • Chat messages (text content, timestamps, sender information)
  • Media files (photos, videos, audio messages, documents)
  • Group chat metadata (group names, participant names)

WhatsConvo only accesses files you choose to import. It does not scan, read, or access any other files on your device.

Where Data Is Stored

All imported data is stored exclusively on your device in the app's private sandbox. This data is protected by iOS system-level security, including hardware encryption. No imported data is stored on servers operated by WhatsConvo or Riant Studio.

What Data Is NOT Collected

WhatsConvo does not collect or transmit any of the following to us or to a third party:

  • Usage analytics or behavioural data
  • Crash reports or diagnostic logs
  • Device identifiers or fingerprints
  • Location data
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Any form of usage tracking

The app may create local diagnostic information on your device when you ask it to help investigate an import or storage issue. This information is not sent automatically and is removed by the app's cleanup controls and lifecycle cleanup. You choose explicitly if you share a diagnostic report.

iCloud and Cloud Sync

WhatsConvo does not use iCloud, CloudKit, or any cloud synchronisation service, and never transmits your imported chat data itself. Chat processing operates entirely offline; purchase and restoration requests use Apple's StoreKit service as described below.

Like any app, WhatsConvo's data is included in your device's standard backups (iCloud Backup or an encrypted computer backup) if you have them enabled. Those backups are managed by iOS, protected by your Apple account, and under your control. If you prefer that your archive never leave the device at all, you can exclude WhatsConvo from iCloud Backup in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > Backups, or disable device backups entirely.

Permissions

WhatsConvo uses the iOS document picker to access only the WhatsApp backup ZIP files you explicitly select for import. The app does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, location, or notifications.

If you enable optional Face ID protection, authentication is performed by iOS. WhatsConvo receives only whether authentication succeeded or failed and does not receive or store your facial or biometric data.

In-App Purchases

Unlimited Chats is a one-time, non-consumable purchase that permanently unlocks unlimited chat imports. Purchases and restorations are processed by Apple through StoreKit. WhatsConvo does not operate a receipt server and does not send your imported chats, messages, or media to Apple as part of a purchase.

Data Deletion

You are in full control of your data at all times:

  • Delete individual chats or media files from within the app
  • Clear your entire imported archive through the app's settings (purchase status and app preferences are retained)
  • Export a portable local ZIP containing a JSON copy of your data and all available imported media
  • Uninstalling WhatsConvo removes its imported archive and app-container data from your device (copies inside device backups you made earlier remain part of those backups until they rotate or you delete them)

Data exports are created locally. WhatsConvo does not upload them; data leaves the app only when you choose a destination in the iOS share sheet. A saved or shared copy is then controlled by you and by the destination you selected.

Deleted media files are retained for 7 days in a soft-delete buffer before permanent removal, giving you a chance to recover accidental deletions. You can also trigger immediate permanent deletion from Settings.

Company Privacy Policy

This policy describes practices specific to WhatsConvo and supplements our company-wide happynikky App Privacy Policy, which applies to all our apps. Where this app-specific policy differs, it governs for WhatsConvo.
